A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Liam has been a practising Chartered Accountant for over 35 years, spending the first part of his career gaining valuable experience as an accountant in industry.

Liam has gained considerable experience in strategic business planning and advice and over the last thirty years has specialised in devising strategic plans to advance businesses particularly in these challenging times both domestically and internationally.

Liam is our Chief Executive and has played a major role in developing the firm's resources and capabilities in delivering quality professional services from a regional base.  His leadership helps to ensure that all our clients get the highest possible quality of service.

Liam is a Member of the Governing Body at Athlone Institute of Technology and a Board Member at Professional Games Board Connacht Rugby.

Joey became a partner in 2004 and has over 25 years experience specialising in  working with medium to large sized  privately owned businesses, helping them  to develop and achieve their financial  goals.

His broad experience includes providing strategic direction and tailored solutions in all aspects of service for clients from accounting, auditing, tax compliance, tax planning, financial management, banking and statutory compliance.  

He works predominantly in sectors such as retail, property, construction, healthcare, tourism, legal, and manufacturing.

Joey is currently assisting clients to restructure (both financially and operationally) to protect their business as a result of the ongoing economic downturn as well as turnaround and crisis management for business experiencing difficulties.

In addition, Joey heads up the firms Accounting Solution team which provides clients with a team dedicated to taking care of their every accounting needs, leaving clients free to concentrate on developing their business.

The Accounting Services team core valued added services includes all aspects of Book keeping & Management accounts leading to annual accounts production, business plans, staff secondment, selecting and implementing accounting systems and most importantly access to specialists who  can advice and support clients in every facet of their business lives.

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Joe joined Russell Brennan Keane in 1987 and has been a Partner since 2000.  Through this time, he has played a leading role in the development of the firm and its clients.  Coinciding with a period of rapid growth in our economy, Joe was lead advisor to a number of large indigenous property and construction clients who were a core part of the Firms services characterised by large bank, private funding and project management assignments.

Joe has an in-depth understanding of the complexities and challenges facing many large scale businesses particularly those in the construction, development, hotel and on a niche level, the motor sectors.  He has direct practical experience with large scale projects both for existing and new clients involving restructuring, negotiation of legal and financial agreements, structuring complex property and tax based incentive schemes and project fundraising.

Additionally, Joe has been the Firms lead adviser for a number of acquisition and disposal transactions in the Life Sciences / Medical Device sector involving co-ordination of various professional advisers, interaction with Legal teams, Venture Capitalist firms, Bankers and State organisations.

 

Tom Donohue

Tom is a Chartered Certified Accountant and an AITI Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) with over 30 years experience. Tom has spearheaded the creation and development of the Firms Taxation Department and as a result of which the firm has become widely recognised for its specialist knowledge of tax based schemes, corporate structures, tax based financing and succession planning.

As a leading corporate adviser Tom specialises in  working closely with clients across a broad range of sectors and focuses on advising businesses through restructure to successfully navigate the current challenges.

Tom specialises in assisting entrepreneurs with Bank and private funding for developing and emerging businesses with particular expertise in the technology and bio science and medical sectors. He has a unique understanding of the property market and owner managed sectors.

  Brian Feeney

An Associate of Chartered Accountants Ireland, Brian's expertise is in the provision of assurance and business advisory services to a client portfolio which includes large international and indigenous companies operating in Ireland and a number of high profile brands many of which have a global dimension.  Specialist sectors include information technology, gaming, medtech, insurance, manufacturing and food. 

Brian is a founding member of Russell Brennan Keane's International Desk which manages foreign direct investment enquiries. 

From Athlone, Brian has previously worked with Arthur Andersen and KPMG and is an Economics graduate of Trinity College, Dublin.

In addition to considerable audit and assurance advisory expertise, Brian also has considerable experience across a broad range of projects for large corporate groups including:

  • Significant experience in assisting Foreign Direct Investment companies setting up operations in Ireland
  • Performed Due Diligence for multinational companies across multiple jurisdictions including BRICS and EMEA countries.

A Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland, Cathal joined the firm in 2002 as an Audit Manager. 

With over 16 years experience in audit, compliance and related services, Cathal specialist sectors include manufacturing, Credit Unions and software development. 

From Galway, Cathal has previously worked with Ernest & Young and holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and Higher Diploma in Education from NUIG. Cathal has also recently obtained a Diploma in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Cathal works predominantly on a mid-large range of corporate clients, which in many circumstances have an international dimension. His current client portfolio includes Steripack; Irish Casing Company; Abbott Medical Employee Benefit Scheme, Channel Mechanics, Western Automation and Asset InterTech.

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and an AITI Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) Pat is based in our Athlone office and has been a partner since 1982.  He is also a Registered Tax Consultant of the Irish Institute of Taxation.

He manages an extensive portfolio of clients involved in Construction, Leisure, Manufacturing, Service and Agricultural industries.  Working within the Audit and Advisory division, Pat and his team advise clients on Financial, Taxation, Commercial and Management issues in their personal and business affairs.  He is also the reporting partner for many of the Firm's legal clients.

David has developed a wealth of experience in the area of Restructuring & Insolvency over many years, particularly in effecting the turnaround and restructuring of financially distressed businesses to avoid insolvency processes.

His experience is across a broad range of industries and he has acted as Examiner, Liquidator, and Receiver on numerous cases. He frequently carries out independent financial reviews on behalf of various banks and financial institutions for companies who encounter business difficulties.

David is also a member of the Irish Society of Insolvency Practitioners (ISIP) and the European Insolvency Practitioners Association (INSOL Europe) and a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

He frequently lectures and speaks in his specialist area to educational bodies, practitioners and business audiences and is regularly quoted in the business and general media on Restructuring & Insolvency related topics.

Brendan, who is an Fellow of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland, brings you 20 years experience in the specialist area of restructuring and insolvency.

He is experienced in all forms of corporate insolvency including voluntary  liquidations (both Creditors Voluntary & High Court), receiverships, examinerships, restructuring, litigation support and forensic accounting assignments.

Brendan is a member of the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies in Ireland (CCABI Insolvency) and Chairman of the Insolvency Sub-Committee of the Irish Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland.  He is also a founding member of the Irish Society of Insolvency Practitioners (ISIP) and a member of the European Insolvency Practitioners Association (INSOL Europe). 

He has written and lectured extensively on Restructuring and Insolvency related topics and is frequently quoted in business publications and the general media.

Jackie Masterson

An Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and an AITI Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA), Jackie joined RBK in 2006 and became  Partner in 2008. She trained with Arthur Andersen and was a Tax Director in KPMG in Dublin before joining RBK.

Jackie's expertise range from advising domestic owner managed businesses to quoted multinationals.  Jackie heads up RBK's International Tax Division and advises on structuring overseas property acquisitions for property developers / investors, structuring issues for Irish companies looking to expand overseas and multinationals locating in Ireland.

A Law & Accounting Graduate from University of Limerick, Jackie is a Council Member of the Irish Taxation Institute, where she has also lectured.

Colm became a partner in 2000 and was promoted to Managing Partner of Athlone in 2007.  He brings over 10 years international industry experience having held the position of Financial Controller in both a manufacturing and a publishing company.

Being a partner in our Audit and Advisory practice, Colm's focus include corporate finance, company reorganisation, management development and systems selection, along with developing the management consultancy services in the firm.  Colm has extensive experience in international client services, involving Group Reporting, International Audit Clearance, and advising on Group Strategic outlooks.

Mairead is our lead taxation partner, is a Chartered Certified Accountant and an AITI Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA).  After qualifying with RBK in 1992 she turned her attention to tax and is a Registered Tax Consultant of the Irish Taxation Institute since 1995.

Frequently providing commentary at seminars and client workshops, Mairead provides advice on personal and corporate tax planning, corporate restructures, tax based investments, property structure, estate and succession planning.

After graduating from DCU in 1995 with a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance, Conor qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1999. Conor joined Russell Brennan Keane having spent a number of years in KPMG.

Conor is our International Audit Partner and represents RBK on the PCAOB Working Committee of Large Audit Firms in Ireland. Conor is IFRS accredited with CAI, and advises a number of clients on International reporting, IFRS conversion, and group reporting.

Conor's core expertise is in advisory to privately owned corporate entities and advises on business strategy, asset protection and optimising shareholder value. Conor has core experience in software technology, retail and distribution sectors.

Conor also heads up RBK's not for profit group, and acts for some of the largest charities in Ireland, advising on all aspects and implications of the Charities Act 2009.
