Francesco Costello

SME Accounting Solutions Trainee

I joined RBK in September 2025 as part of the SME team in the Roscommon office after completing my degree at ATU Sligo. The position appealed to me because it offered the opportunity to begin my career in a supportive and professional environment while continuing my studies towards the ACCA qualification. There are also social events throughout the year, which are a great opportunity to meet colleagues from different departments and offices.

Since joining the firm, I have gained valuable experience working on a wide variety of client cases. My role has involved preparing Accounts and completing Income Tax Returns for companies of different sizes across a wide range of industries. This variety has allowed me to develop my technical knowledge, build confidence in my abilities and gain a greater understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities of an accountant.

Overall, I am looking forward to the years ahead working alongside everyone. Working at RBK has been a rewarding experience, both professionally and personally. I would certainly recommend applying for RBK’s Graduate Programme.

Rebecca Cullen

Tax Trainee

After graduating from Maynooth University in 2024 with a BCL in Law and Accounting, I joined RBK’s Graduate Programme as a Tax Trainee in our Athlone office. I previously completed a six-week summer placement with RBK Tax, which gave me a great insight into what a career at RBK could look like and made returning as a graduate an easy decision.

Since joining as a graduate, no two days have been the same. My day can range from personal and corporate compliance, to assisting with tax advice on sales/transfers, to assisting clients with a range of tax queries, which keeps the job exciting! This exposure to diverse clients and tax matters has allowed me to develop my knowledge across the various areas of tax. Alongside my role, I am currently sitting my Chartered Accountants Ireland (ACA) exams, which provides a structured exam format to students and intend to sit my Irish Tax Institute (ITI) exams to further my career in tax.

RBK offers great opportunities to build relationships outside of your team through its committees and Social Club, which contributes to a great work-life balance. I am involved in RBK’s Connect & Communicate (C&C) committee, which has given me the opportunity to meet people across RBK and take part in a range of social activities. Through RBK and ACA, I have had the opportunity to get involved with the Chartered Accountants Student Society Midlands (CASSM), as secretary and events officer, which allows me to connect with other ACA students in RBK, the Midlands and across Ireland.

I was once told, “every expert started as a beginner”, and that has always stuck with me. My advice to future graduates is that RBK is just the start of your journey, so make the most of the opportunities, reach out to others and enjoy your experience along the way.

Alisha Crasta

SME Accounting Solutions Trainee

After graduating with a Master’s in Accounting and Financial Management from UCD, I wanted a graduate role that would challenge me, give me responsibility and support my professional development. RBK’s Graduate Programme stood out to me for its strong training, supportive environment and opportunity to gain practical experience while working towards my ACCA qualification.

I joined the SME department in the Dublin office and felt welcomed from day one, with colleagues always willing to answer questions and offer support. I have really enjoyed the variety of the role, from working on different client files to collaborating with colleagues and taking on new challenges. I have gained confidence, developed my skills and taken on more responsibility.

The support from my mentors, managers and colleagues, along with RBK’s study support, has made balancing work and exams much easier. For me, the best part of RBK is the people and the supportive, down-to-earth culture. My advice to future graduates is to go for it, ask questions, get involved and do not be afraid to make mistakes, they are an important part of learning. By embracing the opportunities available, you can gain so much both professionally and personally.
