As of 1st September 2019, Parental Leave legislation has changed.
As an employer, what do you need to know?
- Parental leave will increase from 18 weeks to 22 weeks from 1 September 2019 (this will increase to 26 weeks in September 2020)
- If the parent has already taken some, or all of the original entitlement to 18 weeks parental leave, they are still entitled to an extra four weeks of parental leave, if their child is still eligible
- The age threshold will increase from 8 years of age to 12 years of age
