As noted above, the Minister announced an additional Brexit response loan scheme for the agri-food sector.
The leasing of agricultural land for the use of solar panels will be treated as a qualifying agricultural activity for the purposes of certain CAT and CGT reliefs. The solar panel infrastructure cannot exceed 50% of the total acreage of the farmland.
This is a welcome measure which should promote renewable energy and help tackle climate change.
Consanguinity relief for stamp duty on inter-family transfers of farms is being extended for a further three years. A 1% rate of stamp duty applies to these transfers.
