Mergers & Transfers of Engagements

As the financial landscape in which we operate continues to prove challenging for Credit Unions, transfers of engagements and amalgamations will continue.

While The Credit Union Restructuring Board’s (ReBo) was in operation, its vision was, "for vibrant and sustainable credit unions that are credible, trustworthy providers of financial services to their members". This vision is still very relevant.

For some Credit Unions, the decision to enter into a merger or transfer of engagements process is a necessary move to secure survival; for others, it may be a strategic move to secure growth and provide broader services to members.

At RBK, we have assisted both small and large credit unions with mergers and transfers of engagements. We have strong working relationships with the Central Bank and the representative bodies and our team has specialist skills and knowledge to advise you during this critical process.

We assist with:

  • Strategic direction
  • Project management and governance
  • Preparation of the High Level Business Case (HLBC) and Detailed Level Business Case (HLBC)
  • Asset Review Due Diligence Phase
  • Financial Due Diligence including an assessment of the transfer or credit union to act as the anchor credit union post merger
  • Merger financial projections
  • Human resource change management
